In the majority of properties we can install smart modules within existing back boxes and ceiling roses, provided there is a neutral at the switch or we use a no-neutral compatible device. Where wiring is old, undersized or lacks earthing at switch positions, we'll tell you honestly on the survey and quote for the minimum remedial work needed. If a wider upgrade is due anyway, combining smart wiring with a rewire or a fuse box replacement is far cheaper than doing it twice.

Usually not. Most smart switches, dimmers and relays fit inside your existing back boxes and use your current cabling. A rewire is only needed if the wiring is already at the end of its life or there is no neutral or earth available at the switch positions — we confirm this on a free survey before quoting.
